A Proud Tradition

The skilled trades include a wide variety of professions that require specific knowledge, skills, and abilities. Skilled tradespeople—such as carpenters, welders, plumbers, electricians, and landscapers—are the backbone of the economy, and have been for over a century.

Skilled trade jobs generally don’t require a bachelor’s degree (no student debt), and can often lead to careers that pay $75,000 a year or more. Many tradespeople also launch their own businesses. These are entrepreneurial paths and are widely considered “essential businesses.”
